Lumecon lights the top of the Ted Weiss Federal Building, New York, NY
The Ted Weiss Federal Building Office Building is located at 290 Broadway in New York City. Located in the heart of the Foley Square District in lower Manhattan, the urban site is surrounded by a significant grouping of early twentieth century judicial and federal buildings, as well as important late nineteenth and early twentieth century skyscrapers. The Weiss Federal Building currently houses the Internal Revenue Service, the Environmental Protection Agency, the General Accounting Office, and many other federal agencies that were formerly located in offices throughout New York City.
The building’s design embraces the dignified tradition of American federal architecture, including a 30-story high rise mid-span topped by two mechanical penthouse levels. The Weiss Building exterior is clad with granite, and punched aluminum windows, featuring a signature mechanical “crown” trellis detail. Lumecon provided exterior accent lighting, including the upper mechanical accent lighting visible throughout all of Manhattan and the New York Skyline.
Lumecon is a proud partner, assisting the project team and the United States Federal Government in achieving their energy goals, while updating it’s original HID lighting scheme to Lumecon’s industry leading exterior LED solutions.
